Physics 1 AP C 2005-2006 Projects

"If we ask you to reinvent the wheel, it's not because we need more wheels.
It's because we need more inventors."

  1. First quarter project: Video motion analysis using Videopoint. Cool clips are available:

Project specifications (which may eliminate some of the choices on the above links) to be announced each quarter.

    Helpful sites:

    1. Roller coaster physics
    2. Using a spreadsheet with VideoPoint
    3. Java roller coaster designer
    4. Bungee jumping
    5. More theme park links

  2. Second quarter project:

  3. Third quarter project: Particle Physics: Why Particle Physics? Because "real physicists don't slide blocks down ramps"!

  4. Fourth quarter project:

Let's Get Medieval! Design and build a catapult or trebuchet. Instructions forthcoming: your device may only be powered by mechanical energy: no motors or combustibles allowed!

Please note your fourth quarter project is in lieu of a final exam - and therefore the lab writeup for this project counts as your final exam grade!

Note also that all projects must be submitted for approval before you can begin work. Send an email to Mr. F oulining your idea (and be specific). There won't be any duplications. Act now, because the good ones will go fast.

If you need help focusing your ideas down to something managable, come see Mr. Friedman.

Use of Internet sources is ok, as long as you include a citation for the webpage in your writeup.
